Excellent video. I've always been interested in the uncanny valley. Spirits within is always used as the best example. However, I think Speilberg's AI movie was a better example of this as it actually was about how to overcome the uncanny valley. But back on the topic of games, I've always been a fan of the stylized games. They've always just been more fun to me. I think this all comes back to cost as he mentions. Every game has a budget. Either you can spend a lot of money making a mediocre game look amazing, or you can spend money on writers and play-testing to make an amazing game that still looks good. I'd take the latter any day.
