Bioshock 2: multiplayer footage
Speaking of Killing Floor, one of our new members, Blake Ice, recently observed that that the character models run around like they have a load in their pants. While I have to admit that he's right about that, it's excusable for a $20 game that started off as a mod.
BioShock 2 did not start life as mod, and will cost significantly more. While I expect that the singleplayer campaign will have the high-end production values of the first, the multiplayer end nevertheless has some pretty crappy character animations:

The MP experience could still be otherwise worthwhile, but this trailer has done nothing to assuage my doubts.
Spend less; have fun anyway
Since we seem to be at the doorstep of the era of $60 PC games, it's important to remember that there are solid games out there that you can pick up for a fraction of the cost of a AAA title. Killing Floor (at $20) is one example. Torchlight (also $20) might be another:

MW2 - CTF gameplay
And there's a significant bit of "holy sh*t" after the release date splash.
The showcase includes a few new weapons, a hellacious HUD blood-splatter effect, and way too many players using riot shields. There's also a throwing knife that will undoubtedly be banned from a handful of servers before the game is even released. From the footage I've seen so far, IW has toned-down the use of those stupid "vision files" that made so many maps look so washed-out, and made it so much more difficult for color blind players (like me) to see anybody.
The "holy unexpected feature, Batman!" moment comes at the end: it seems the multiplayer is going to sport a host migration feature that will drop everybody into a new server in exactly the same game state. No map restart, no game lobby ... just pick up right where you left off. I have no idea under what conditions migration will occur, but there are all kinds of potential scenarios where it would be useful.
Of course, it's all Xbox footage, so that feature is by no means guaranteed for the PC.

PBbans lives!
PBBans is back. From their new forums:
LIVE FROM NEW YORK … ITS PBBANS.
Welcome back everyone; hope you enjoyed your time off. As you can see we are online ahead of schedule thanks to the speedy install from our host and the servers arriving a day early. Hub is online and seems to be running smoothly. Please bear with us over the next few days as we fix any bugs and update docs to reflect the new Hub info.
Be sure to check that your servers are streaming in the Server Management area.
Hub profile information can be found in our Hub Guide
Automated Setup can be done using our Webtool
We received a great outpouring of support during our time of need and we want to express our sincerest thanks to those that donated, continue to donate and to those that offered to help.
I also want to thank Art of War Central and Wolf Servers who provided a temp hosting solution for our status site.
Apparently, one or more shithead cheaters are still conducting DDOS attacks on their servers, but they are resisting mightily.

Section 8 full scale burn-in
After my admittedly brief experience with the beta, I've lost interest. If you haven't, Section 8 is due out tomorrow (September 1).
