L4D2's new "scavenger mode"

From Shack News:
Dubbed "Scavenge," the mode essentially combines Left 4 Dead's Versus and Survival modes. One team, the survivors, is tasked with retrieving scattered gas canisters and using them to fill up generators. As in Versus, the other team takes control of "special infected" and attempts to stop the survivors alongside legions of regular zombies.

A total of 16 gas cans appear every round--the goal is to use as many of those cans as possible within the time limit. Each round kicks off with a ticking 120 second timer, and every gas can used adds another 20 seconds to the clock.

As the canisters are a limited commodity, survivors have to be careful that they don't shoot them or otherwise cause them to explode. And they'll also have to watch out for the other team too, as enemies can detonate the canisters at points.

One match is comprised of three rounds, with each team getting a shot at the Survivor side in an attempt to collect the most gas cans. The team that wins two out of three rounds triumphs overall. If there is a tie in the number of gas cans used in a particular round, the side with the lowest recorded time gets the tally.

Six "Scavenge" maps will be including with Left 4 Dead 2 when it comes to PC and Xbox 360 on November 17, alongside the game's other co-op and competitive modes.

Hang on to your money

For the moment, at least, Operation Flashpoint 2 has no dedicated server; it's all P2P. While that will not impede your enjoyment of singleplayer and co-op, it will almost certainly mean significant lag for all but the most geographically proximate multiplayer hook-ups. Coupled with the absence of any anti-cheat or disc-authentication measures, the absence of dedicated server functionality means that anyone who was stoked for a great MP experience should hold off on buying the game.

A 200+ ping will ruin your day.

TF2: "Hide and Seek" mod

And hilarity ensues...

One team is all Pryo. The other team is all Scout, except the Scouts are disguised as props (barrels, control points, plastic frogs, etc.), which can all move about just as Scouts are wont to do. The Pyro team must find - and kill - all the props before time runs out.

Brilliant.

MW2 (PC) - I am Jack's complete lack of surprise

You knew it was coming. If you didn't, you should have.

A dirty little rumor has been circulating through the community sites for a while now. It says that Infinity Ward started working on the PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 just a few weeks ago.

Somebody knew what the hell he was talking about.

Destructoid and Rock, Paper, Shotgun (among others) reported today that while the November 10 release date is still a go for the consoles, the PC version of MW2 has been pushed back to November 24. WePlayCoD has obtained semi-official confirmation from Activision:
A quick call to an Activision representative (after being immediately forwarded by the IW rep) gave us an "on the record" yet "off the record" statement that it does indeed look like the PC version has been "slightly" delayed. We were told that an "official" release that confirms this delay should be coming shortly.

While this is still classified as rumor, our Activision rep (who shall remain nameless) did confirm this delay for us.
Thus far, the delay has been reported for the European market only, but a North American announcement is inevitable.

Have we become the bastard step-children of the franchise? Yes, we have.

Eurogamer previews The Secret World

If you're at all interested in this upcoming (when, I have no idea) MMO, this article is worth reading. Quote:
The Secret World tells the tale of magic-wielding heroes waging an underground war against "zombies, vampires, and that kind of thing" (Tornquist's words) and is set within a dense muddle of conspiracy theories, old wives' ramblings and urban legends. An early teaser suggested that it might have room for all of them, in fact, reeling off everything from secret chambers discovered beneath Arctic wastelands, rumours of a massive cavity within Earth itself, Stonehenge, telepathy, Masonic links within the US government and, naturally, Atlantis.

Operation Flashpoint 2 is set to hit retail on October 6.

That's all I've got.
